Today, April 5th the Evaluation Committee for the 2015 Summer Universiade concluded its evaluation visit of the first Bidding City, i.e. Taipei City, Chinese Taipei. On the third day of this three-day visit FISU Executive Committee members Bergh, Cabral, Ralethe, Tamer and Igarashi and FISU Staff member Pierre spend the morning on the road once again to visit more venues proposed by the Bidding Committee for the 2015 Summer Universiade.
The delegates left their hotel early to visit more venues than initially planned. The first venue on the road schedule was the Taoyuan County Gymnasium (seating 15,000) that could host gymnastics.
The travel continued to the Hsinchuang Gymnasium of Taipei County, on the outskirts of Taipei City. This venue is planned for the judo competition.
The delegates continued their road trip to the National Taipei University of Education where they visited the Gymnasium on campus that could be used to host the taekwondo competition.
The next stop on the road was the Taipei Zhong Zheng Sports Center, one of the many multi-functional and multi-storey sports centers in the island’s capital comprised of a number of halls for ball sports, badminton, a golf driving range, a 10m-sport shooting range, a 30m-archery range and a swimming pool. The sports center is planned to be a training venue for badminton and basketball.
Then the delegates visited a number of sport venues construction sites along the banks along the Keelung River. The DaJia Riverside Park will host football competitions, while the Rainbow Riverside Park will be constructed for tennis. These venues are already under construction and will be completed for the Deaflympics which will take place in September this year.
The delegates also visited the Taipei International Convention Center which will be used as the Main Press Center and the International Broadcasting Center.
In the afternoon the EvalCom held another information and Q & A session with the Bidding Committee and finished the day with an internal working session.
Tomorrow the EvalCom 2015 SU will leave early to Gwangju, Korea, the second Bidding City the FISU delegates will visit to evaluate.
