2009 SU Update: Universiade Flag on the Way to the Top of the World

20 April 2009

Climbing expedition ‘Everest 2009′, bearing with them the Universiade flag has just entered the territory of Tibet. At the moment, they are in Tingri, at 4,200 m above sea level.

The expedition leader, Dragan Jacimovic, wrote in his diary (www.ectremesummitteam.com) that for them, the expedition had just started.

‘We are all doing well and are looking forward to the climb. However, I am facing a new problem. I need to slow down my team a little because they are all eager to prove themselves. We have taken a photo with the Universiade 2009 flag at the summit of the mountain here in Tingri; thus, the flag has started its climb to the top of the world, as well! Our Sherpa are planning to leave for the Base Camp tomorrow, in order to put up the tents in time for our arrival. It seems that everything is falling into place and that we can proceed towards our goal’, Dragan Jacimovic wrote.

The flag, the expedition ‘Everest 2009′ is taking to the top of the world, will be used for the 25th Summer Universiade opening. The Universiade will be held between July 1st and July 12th, in Belgrade.
