In “Basket City”, in Cukarica Padina, members of Serbia’s student basketball team are busy preparing for the spring examination period, for the 25thSummer Universiade in Belgrade.
Aleksanda Kesar’s boys are very enthusiast about the Universiade. ‘The team is now complete. We are all here; we work, divided in groups. This is the harmonization phase. The expert staff is taking care of each of the players. We are very carefully metering intensity of trainings. Today, we have started equalizing the rhythm of the whole team’, Kesar said.
Besides the everyday work with the team, Aleksandar Kesar and his assistants are gathering information about their opponents. ‘We are expected to perform well, especially since we are the host country. Data we have gathered through our scouting network tell us that this year’s Universiade will be the best in the last 15 years. Many teams are coming with their best players. The Americans are coming with their back-up team for the World Championship in Turkey and are hoping to take home the gold. We certainly won’t let them walk all over us. We are resolved to go for the gold’, Aleksandar Kesar concluded.
