2009 SU Update: More Delegations Settle in Village

Another Flag Raising Ceremony

 

Today, Universiade Village Mayor Ranko Tepavcevic welcomed five more delegations in the Athletes’ Village when the delegations of Brazil, Madagaskar, Mongolia, Swaziland and Tanzania become official residents of the Village after the Flag Raising Ceremony.

It’s great to be here’, Biko Luigi Molteni told FISU Media. Biko is an athlete from Tanzania who will compete in swimming together with his compatriot. They both can take part in the Universiade thanks to the FISU Aid program. ‘The organization of the Village is absolutely professional, it will be a great experience to compete’ against other nations, Biko added.

Tsetsegjargal Ganbold from MongoliaTsetsegjargal Ganbold travelled all the way from Mongolia and is looking forward to start the volleyball competition.

Isaiah Msibi from Swaziland is in Europe for the first time and together with his team mate he will participate in athletics. ‘This is quite an experience’, he said.

All these athletes are looking forward to the Opening Ceremony which will take place on July 1st. In the meanwhile delegations keep arriving in the Village which starts getting inhabited.
