2009 SU Update: Charles Wendon Memorial Officials’ Race

Traditionally the ‘Charles Wendon Memorial Race’ for officials is organized during this Universiade as well. The first edition of the Race was held at the 1983 Summer Universiade and was the brainchild of Charles Wendon, a British official at the time, still alive at the time it he named it the ‘Charles Wendon Memorial Race’, a morbid wink. In the meanwhile, the British gentleman has passed away, but the Memorial Race is still organized each Summer Universiade going into its 19th edition.

The Race is open to all accredited people except Universiade athletes and will take place on July 11th at 9h30 AM following the Men’s Half Marathon on the half marathon course at the start thereof.
