Men’s basketball final Serbia vs. Russia
Today, July 11th, the basketball finals of the 25th Summer Universiade were held in the Belgrade Arena, the basketball temple of Serbia.
In the Women’s competition Team USA completely overpowered the Russians claiming the gold medal with a 83-64 score. The bronze went to Australia, which beat the Czechs.
The Men’s final was a much anticipated Game between host Serbia and Russia. The Serbs were just too strong for the Russians. Cheered by more than 20,000 basketball crazy fans in the Belgrade Arena the Serbian team was no match for the Russians. The Serbian wall was just unbreakable marking a strong defense while their offense was unstoppable with plenty of three-pointers ending in a well-deserved 73:51 victory for the host team. The best Universiade basketball final in FISU history.
The men’s bronze went to USA as they beat Israel 91-80.
