2009 SU Update: Olympic Archery Champion grabs Universiade Gold

Victor RUBAN, Olympic Champion in Beijing 2008 in Men’s individual recurve grabbed the gold today at the 25th Universiade in Belgrade.

The Ukrainian qualified in the 7th position in the Qualification Round and in the eliminations he progressed into the finals. In the gold medal round he outclassed his opponent Wang Cheng-Pang from Chinese Taipei. The bronze medal went to Dmytro Hrachov, also from the Ukraine who beat Italian Massimilliano Mandia.

‘I’m very satisfied with this gold medal’, Victor told FISU Media. ‘The competition was very though. I more or less expected to win, but it didn’t go easy.
