The 17th edition of the World University Orienteering Championships will be hosted by SAIF, the Swedish University Sport Federation in Borlänge, Sweden from July 19th to 23rd, 2010.
Borlängen, an agricultural community transformed into an industrial town in the late 19th century was recognized as a city in 1944 and today counts some 48,000 inhabitants. The University of Dalarna, established in 1977 has a campus in Borlänge.
The Organizing Committee has as a goal to have participants from at least 30 nations from five continents. If they succeed it will be a record of participating nations and continents for the World University Orienteering Championships.
So far some major steps in the organisation were taken such as:
- Establishment of the organization structure;
- Time schedules for the different events decided;
– First meetings regarding events, map making and course setting.
Together with FISU Technical Chair for Orienteering, Mr. Ola Kåberg, it was decided to follow the IOF regulations and only have three team members in the relay event.

Tuesday July 20th
– Long Distance
Wednesday July 21th
– Sprint Distance
Thursday July 22th
– Middle Distance
Friday July 23th
– Relay
– Closing Ceremony
