Second CTI Meeting in Erzurum
The second CTI (International Technical Committee) meeting (the first was held in October 2009) started today in Erzurum under the lead of Mr. Roger Roth, Chair of the CTI for winter sports in FISU.
After spending all day with inspections of the venues and the observation of test events, the FISU CT Chairs met in the Polat Hotel with the technical delegates of the Erzurum Universiade OC.
Roger Roth first welcomed all the participants explaining that the aim of this kind of meeting is to assure a better collaboration between FISU and OC people on a more technical point of view. He thanked all the OC delegates for their work in the preparation of this meeting but also, more generally speaking, about the preparation of the Universiade competitions and test events.
Mr. Muhtar Kurt, Chair of the Technical Committee within the Erzurum OC thanked all the FISU CT Chairs for their help and invited them to make all necessary remarks to the OC delegates in order to better prepare the competitions of next year.
Roger Roth invited all the FISU CT Chairs and all the OC delegates to give their first comments on the situation at this time on a round table.
The CT Chairs explained their specific problems and the OC delegates gave their solutions or comments about the way to avoid these problems. “So far so good” were the words of Jeanette Johnston when she concluded her presentation about curling preparation.
And indeed, generally speaking the FISU CT Chairs are very optimistic about the work of the OC and Roger Roth was not the last to thank the OC technical delegates for their patience and for their professional way of working.
The inspections will continue this week-end, and also the test events which are crucial at this stage of the Universiade preparation.
Mr. Milan Augustin, FISU Director for the Winter Universiade asked all the sports departments to finalize their daily schedule according to the general plan that was already defined at the last meeting in October 2009.
To conclude, Mr. Bekir Korkmaz, the General Coordinator of the Games, wished all the participants a very fruitful stay in Erzurum.
