DENIZLI – From May 15th to 19th, 2010, the 7th Turkish University Sport Games were hosted by Pamukkale University in Denizli.
At this national event student-athletes competed in eight sport disciplines: Volleyball, Basketball, Handball, Futsal, Track & Field, Gymnastics, Water Polo and Swimming.
1,900 athletes and 700 officials from 70 different universities participated in these Games which also included cultural events providing a festival atmosphere. During the Games a concert was held with performances of the band Manga who represented Turkey at the 2010 Eurovision Song Festival.
During the 7th Turkish University Sport Games, many records were broken in Track and Field and in Gymnastics. The Campus of Pamukkale University became a mini Universiade Village during the games involving more than 500 volunteers.
The last day of the Games was also a special day as that day the National festival “19 May Youth and Sport Festival” took place all over Turkey in name of Atatürk, founder of the Turkish Republic.
