SINGAPORE – The last day of competition was the most exciting in the whole tournament. The women’s final was fiercely contested between Namangan National University (NNU Uzbekistan) and Peking University Founder Technology College (PUFTC China). PUFTC had already met NNU in the preliminary rounds and prevailed by a single goal. The spectators in the pool were treated to a nail-biting finish as both teams took turns to score. NNU held on towards the end with a final score of 9-8.
The Men’s final was a greatly anticipated match between Waseda University (WU Japan) and Korea National Sport University. Both teams had topped the respective groups in the preliminary rounds and won their games by big margins. The whole swimming pool gallery was filled with screams and cheers as the teams exchanged goals and misses. It was Waseda University that prevailed in the end with a final score of 13-11.
During the Closing Ceremony, the following awards were given to outstanding players.
Most Valuable Player Women – Nigmatullialna Rutina (NNU Uzbekistan)
Top Scorer Women – Gai Zhi Jun (PUFTC China)
Best Goalkeeper Women – Lin Jia (PUFTC China)
Most Valuable Player Men – Ezaki Daichi (WU Japan)
Top Scorer Men – Liu Jian (PUFTC China)
Best Goalkeeper Men – Lee Seung Huh (KNSU Korea)
