Opening Ceremony
TOKYO – Today, July 29th, the CISCA meeting took place as last preparation for the 5th edition of the FISU World University Baseball Championship which is hosted by the JUSB, the Japanese FISU member association in Tokyo.
CISCA MeetingPresent at the meeting were CHEN Tai-Cheng, FISU Assessor; Richard NAYLOR, FISU Technical Chair for Baseball; Kenny CHOW, CIC Member; Dr. ZHANG Hong (Mrs.), Medical Committee Member; LEE Sang-Hyun, IBAF Technical Delegate, KAZU Tawa, General Secretary of the OC and Laurent BRIEL, FISU Director for WUC.
Mr. Kazu Tawa gave a detailed presentation of the upcoming event. Then each CISCA member reported on his/her field of responsibility. All members were very much satisfied with the preparations for the event made by the Organizing Committee.
HoD MeetingLater that day, Mr. Naylor and Mr. Lee attended the Umpire meeting in which the specificities of this World University Championship were explained to the umpire corps, as well as the particular characteristics of each competition venue.
The General Technical meeting for the Heads of Delegation was held in the hotel of the athletes. So far all delegations are quite satisfied with the services of the Organizing Committee. At this meeting, Mr. Koji Aso, chairman of the rules & umpiring committee explained all rules and regulations related to this FISU event.
The day ended with the Opening Ceremony which took place in the hotel of the delegations. FISU protocol was respected and FISU Assessor Chen Tai-Cheng invited the President of the Japanese Olympic Committee Mr. Takeda Tsunekazu to open the Championship. After the ceremonial part the attendants witnessed a show performance of Unviersity Cheerleaders. After the Opening Ceremony the teams, officials and authorities joined for an opening banquet.

Dedicated Exhibition in Tokyo Tower
As a part of a publicity campaign for the 5th WUC Baseball, a dedicated exhibition started at the foot of the Tokyo Tower (, a landmark in central Tokyo on July 17th and will last until the end of the event August 8th. In addition to displays of uniforms, pictures and videos, visitors can try on the Japanese National team’s uniforms and watch the bats and gloves manufacturing process.
