Draw Individual Competition
TAIPEI CITY – The second technical meeting took place this afternoon, 8th September 2010. The draw of the individual event has been done and the competition will be played from 10th-12th September.
The meeting started at 2 p.m. and was chaired by Roger Johansson, the FISU Technical Delegate. He first thanked all the teams for giving feedback and suggestions on the first draw so that the Technical Committee can take more consideration into seeding and drawing. Then he introduced the members from the Badminton World Federation (BWF), David Cabello, the Chair of Development Committee, and Valérie Enault, his assistant.
Then the chief of the umpires Surasak Songvorakulphan (THA) informed the teams about the procedure of the draw. The draw was done by the software Tournament Planner which has been used in important events like the 2007 Bangkok Universiade. The draw was carried out in the order of men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. The result was completed within seconds and the time of the matches will be arranged soon.
During the meeting, Mr. Roger Johansson again invited the participants to join the workshop which is re-scheduled on Saturday, 11th September. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the future of university badminton. He hoped all the participants can give a short speech of their experience of university badminton or badminton championship, making contribution to the future of badminton.
