NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE – As the lights go out in Delhi, everyone is starting to reflect on a great Commonwealth Games. This has seen the host country, India, land second in the medal table ahead of England and behind Australia.
55 TASS Athletes and Graduates won a total of 86 medals which is more than double the amount from Melbourne 2006. Highlights included TASS Athletes Kenny Parr and James Huckle taking Silver medals in two Pairs Shooting events, with James going on to win a further two Bronze medals in the individual events. TASS graduate Danielle Brown became the first English Paralympian to not only compete in an Able Body Discipline at the Games, but she also picked up a Gold medal. Tom Daley’s amazing Diving Double and tight finish in the Individual competition was another highlight, with one dive scoring a clean sweep of 10’s.
TASS National Manager Guy Taylor said, ‘It is great to see this many TASS Athletes and Graduates bringing home medals. I would personally like to say congratulations to all the medal winners as well as the rest of the TASS Athletes and Graduates who took part.
