2013 SU Update: ‘Brainstorming’ at Universiade Village

19 November 2010

KAZAN The first All Campus Brain Ring Championship was held at the Kazan Universiade Village on Monday, November 15th. The tournament was organized by Kazan Federal University jointly with the University’s Student Council and the Kazan 2013 Executive Committee. Six teams, each composed of seven residents of the Universiade Village, competed at the championship.

Within three hours there were three stages of competition held, with each stage eliminating two teams. Damir Akhmetshin, student of Kazan Federal University and one of the organizers of the event, said that the championship was different from the traditional brain ring competition. ‘The first two stages were similar to the What? Where? When? Game Show. The true brain ring competition started at the final stage when the teams were to find an answer to questions quicker than the opponent’, he explained.

There were 36 questions asked during the championship. Apart from the organizers and teams the hall of the residence hall # 2 gathered a large number of students that came to support their friends and roommates. ‘It’s great that the Universiade Village hosts so many events. You always can choose the event you want to participate in’, Liliya Akhmetzyanova, first year student of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics of Kazan Federal University, shared her impression on the tournament.

Residence hall # 2 and #5 teams moved to the final stage of the tournament. The tight battle ended with a 4-3 win of 1C that represented the residence hall # 5.

‘It is expected that the next tournament will be held among the best teams of the Universiade Village and residence halls of Kazan Federal University’, Damir Akhmetshin revealed further plans.
