2013 SU Update: Poetry Evening at Universiade Village

KAZAN – A poetry evening named «The life, and tears, and love…» took place at the Universiade Village on Friday, November 19th.

The evening, organized by students of the residence hall #5 and officers of the Universiade Village, featured poems and short novels by different nations of the world. The students also played violin and flute, performed songs by well-known poets and even pieces of their own composition.

As Svetlana Stepanischeva, organizer of the event, noted, the students got very enthusiast about the idea to hold the poetry evening at a high level. ‘The performers read poems and sang songs in Russian, Chinese, French, Tatar. It’s highly important as there are students from different countries at the Universiade Village’, Svetlana Stepanischeva said. Dina Serazetdinova, fourth year student at the Institute of Oriental Studies of Kazan Federal University and one of the participants of the event, commented on her performance: ‘Since I study Chinese, I wanted to introduce the audience to the literature of this country. I narrated the famous Chinese love story.’

The poetry evening is the fourth event held in the Universiade Village lately. Before that residents of the Universiade Village had the Brain Ring and Counter Strike Championships, and also a special anti-smoking campaign where students could check the real age of their lungs.
