General Coordinator Bekir Korkmaz being filmed
ERZURUM – Can Saraçoğlu, an experienced Turkish film director of nature sports, is filming a documentary of the 2011 Winter Universiade on behalf of the General Coordination of Erzurum 2011 WU. The shooting of the 12-part documentary film, which will last for 2 months, will be done both in Erzurum and abroad. In the documentary the 11 sport disciplines of the Games will be presented separately. The audience will also see the struggle and excitement of the athletes, teams, coaches and the federations during the process. All the details of technical informing, training, team spirit and the training camps will be on screen in order to inform the audience. Also, the urban change of Erzurum, the effects of the Games to the area, the aspect of society and the process will be reviewed.
The film shooting started in Erzurum and will continue in Ankara, İstanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, İzmir, Antalya, Samsun, Trabzon and Artvin. The Turkish teams preparing in Latvia and the Czech Republic will also be brought to the screen. In addition, final preparations of the facilities, historical and cultural places of Erzurum will be displayed separately in the documentary.
The production unit will use all the modern techniques in order to catch a high image quality while shooting: Steady Cam, Jimmy Jip, air micro-cameras and image capture is carried out with the cameras for documentary footage. After completion of the documentary in HD format it will be distrubuted to all national and international channels. ‘As a director I have filmed many sport disciplines in many parts of Turkey. I must admit that it’s the first time I’m filming the winter sports and I’m excited’, Mr.Saraçoğlu stated. ‘The overall aim is to show the spirit of these Games in the best way possible. Me and my team, we are very excited to take part in this event.’
