2011 WU Update: Swiss are Ready

3 January 2011

SWITZERLAND – During the first screening process, the Swiss University Sport Federation has called up 45 athletes and 21 officials in the sports disciplines Curling, Cross Country Skiing, Figure Skating, Nordic Combined, Alpine Skiing, Ski Cross, Ski Jump and Snowboard for the Swiss Team participating at the 25th Winter Universiade in Erzurum.

With Tamara Wolf, Mirena Kueng, Sandro Boner, Christoph Boner (Alpine Skiing), Bettina Gruber (Cross Country), Clemens Bolli (Snowboard Cross) and Manuel Eicher (Ski Cross), 7 medal winners of the previous Winter Universiade (Harbin 2009) will be at the start for Switzerland, again.

The Head of Delegation, Erich Hanselmann, expects to win 8-10 medals in Erzurum. This, however, will also depend on the strength of the other nations and their abilities to nominate their top student athletes for Erzurum.
