KAZAN – A New Year Tree was inaugurated at the Universiade Village on Monday, December 27th. The opening ceremony saw attendance of Universiade Village Mayor Farid Abdulganiev. The event brought together nearly 800 students that reside in the student campus.
In his welcome speech Farid Abdulganiev thanked students for active participation in the life of one of the key venues of the 2013 Summer Universiade and wished them a Happy New Year. «At least once in life everyone dreamed to celebrate the New Year in a village. During the celebrations campus residents enjoyed skating on the ice rink and dance to favourite New Year songs.
Entertainers dressed in national costumes were boosting the New Year cheer. And a special festive performance delivered by Father Frost, the Snow Maiden and the Snowman brought the audience into the New Year mood.
Marat Gataullin, first year student of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogics of the Tatar State Humanitarian and Pedagogical University, noted that such events brightened up the New Year holiday celebrations. «Many thanks to organisers for a beautiful New Year Tree and awesome holiday spirit,» he said.
