2013 SU Update: 12,000 Children and their Parents meet Kazan 2013 Mascot

KAZAN «Miracle for Masha», a New Year’s fairy tale staged by the Emerald City Theatre under the auspices of the Kazan 2013 Executive Committee, ran in Kazan from December 27th until January 6th.

Nearly 12,000 children and their parents watched the play about the adventures of a little girl in the toy world. There was an average spectator turnout of 500 people per performance.

The Kazan 2013 Executive Committee and its volunteers organized a kid show with contests and games that told about the 27th Summer Universiade. According to the show organizers, the performance promotes the 2013 Summer Universiade among younger generation and adults that get engaged in the games with their children. Besides, every kid could have his picture taken with Father Frost and the Kazan 2013 mascot – Uni the snow leopard kitten and got a New Year’s gift.

It should be noted that the play premiered with a charity performance for 200 children from republican orphan and foster homes after which the little spectators were presented 2013 Universiade logoed souvenirs.

During these 11 days 30 volunteers provided their assistance for «Miracle for Masha». The volunteers were helping to give away gifts, organize contests and games and introduce the 2013 Summer Universiade. They were also taking pictures of the kids with the Kazan 2013 mascot.

Kazan 2013 volunteers are involved in all sports and cultural events organized by the Kazan 2013 Executive Committee. Within three past months volunteers were engaged in 20 events, including opening ceremonies of the Boxing and Table Tennis Centre, Burevestnik Indoor Swimming Pool and Sankt-Peterburg Volleyball Centre.
