Second Medal for Artem Pryma, Silver this time
Another Double Gold for Ukraine
ERZURUM – February 2nd – The idea of the pursuit is actually very simple: the skiers leave in the order of their arrival at the sprint. So Artem Pryma (UKR) headed out in the first position for the men’s 12.5km pursuit event, followed like his shadow by his teammate Sergii Semenov and Russian Evgeniy Garanichev. The fight for the podium was between those three. Sergii and Evgeniy entered the stadium together for their last shots. The Russian missed the target four times, and never caught up with Sergii again. Artem had to be content with a silver medal earned after a tough battle in the last moment of the competition.
Given the results of the sprint, we knew that the women’s 10km pursuit would be a close thing. But Vita Semerenko did resist to the pressure. She was the strongest today even if she made some mistakes during the shooting. Darya Virolaynen finished second, with no shooting mistake but less speed in the cross country. Her teammate Evgeniya Sedova was ranked third.
