2013 SU Update: Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate sums up English 4U, Season 2

KAZANResults of the second season of English 4U, a project aimed at teaching English to Kazan 2013 volunteers were summed up at the office of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate on February 28th.

The event was attended by First Deputy Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Azat Kadyrov, representatives of the Volunteers Department, English teachers, volunteers and their parents.

In his welcome speech Azat Kadyrov expressed his gratitude to the parents of the volunteers and stated that their support had played a positive role in their volunteer activity.

He also congratulated them on achieving such great results and handed them their English 4U graduation certificates.

According to Kazan 2013 volunteer Rezeda Akhmetova, before the volunteers joined the English 4U Project they knew only the alphabet and a few common phrases, but now they started to speak English. “The project’s efficiency is striking,” she said.

Yulia Raynvayn, chief specialist of the Volunters Department, informed that the project would receive further development and would involve not only volunteers willing to learn specialized English vocabulary but also volunteers willing to share their wealth of knowledge with others.

Presentations were organized to familiarize parents with the 2013 Summer Universiade and English 4U.

Its stands to note that English 4U: Season 2 ran from October 2010 to February 2011 and involved 25 entrants. The role play tests were to check the volunteers’ knowledge. For instance, the final exam took place at the Universiade Village and represented a modeled situation when the volunteers were tested on their skills to chaperone and assist an athlete in all the fields starting with accommodation and ending with organization of training sessions.
