7 March 2011

KAZAN An Education Coordinating Council of the Council of Tatarstan’s universities and institutes rectors was held in Kazan on February 2nd. A special attention was paid to the 2013 SU cultural legacy building.

Linara Zakirova, Chairman of the Children and Youth Committee of Kazan’s Executive Committee, informed that “starting from now on we need to seek and contribute to creative development of talented youth, notably vocal, dance and variety bands that will perform at the Closing and Opening Ceremonies of the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan and during cultural programmes at the Universiade Village. In this regard a few events are scheduled to be held within the framework of the 2011 Student Spring Festival. They are all aimed at building the 2013 SU cultural legacy.”

According to Nailya Karimova, head of the Department of Cultural Work and Cooperation with Youth Organizations of Kazan’s Children and Youth Committee, “this year higher education institutions will prepare themed performances. The idea of Kazan as the host city of the 27th World University Summer Games will be one of the criteria for the judging panel’s evaluation. At the same time the Festival’s gala concert is held under the aegis of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate and will be dedicated to the 2013 Summer Universiade. Its tagline is “Welcome to Kazan”.

Besides, the Festival’s competitive programme includes such nominations as Best Song аbout Kazan and Best Song аbout the Universiade. The Student Journalism Competition will be held as well that will decide best correspondents, photographers and journalists. The 2011 Student Spring Festival will also feature the Dance Convention organized by the Planet Fitness Sports Club Network. According to the Festival’s organizers the interuniversity relay race, a traditional April event held by Kazan Federal University, will receive a special grassroots boost this year as well. The special new feature of this year’s Festival is the Cheerleading Festival that was initiated by Kazan National Research Technological University and will be held at the Miras Sports Complex facilities.

The ‘Faces of Universiade’-Contest is a special part of the 2011 Student Spring Festival and will be delivered by the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate under the aegis of the Miss Tatarstan Public Organization. The contest is aimed at selecting young male and female models for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 27th World University Summer Games in Kazan.

“Best creative teams and most talented entrants of the Festival will join the so-called UNI-reserve which is to become the backbone of Tatarstan’s creative delegation to the 2011 Student Spring Festival in Tyumen. We are intended to deliver a creative presentation of the 2013 Summer Universiade. It stands to note that the change of the Festival’s theme will result in modification of its corporate style as well: the Festival’s diplomas and print media materials will be branded with the 2013 SU logo and Uni the snow leopard kitten will join the Cat, traditional mascot of the Festival,” Nailya Karimova reported.

What is more, a new evaluation system of the Student Spring Festival will be introduced this year. Unlike previous years when winners were determined in each category and in each higher education institution group (large, average, small) there were three winners and one Grand Prix holder, this year there will feature only gold, silver and bronze winners. The Grand Prix will go to the only higher education institution that collects the largest number of trophies in all the contests and events altogether.
