Roslyn Morris and Leonz Eder
LAUSANNE – On May 17th, FISU EC Member and International Press Committee (CIP) Chair Leonz Eder went to Lausanne, headquarters of the AIPS, in order to meet with Roslyn Morris, Secretary General of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS).
They discussed the content of the Young Sports Journalists Seminar to be held for the first time during the Universiade in Shenzhen, China.
The FISU CIP work group, with Verena Burk, Dejan Susovic, Christian Pierre and Leonz Eder, have prepared a draft of the program for this seminar.
AIPS as a partner of the seminar also wants to implement some topics and will provide the lecturers and mentors for the young sports journalists. Some logistic issues such as accommodation and transportation still have to be solved with the OC of the Universiade Shenzhen.
AIPS President Gianni Merlo was connected to the meeting by Skype and stressed the importance of a good and high level seminar as a starting point for the future seminars to be held in Kazan and Gwangju.
At the moment FISU has received 23 applicants from 5 continents. FISU will select and fund 10 young sports journalists to participate at the seminar in Shenzhen. AIPS will select additionally 30 young journalists, and the Shenzhen OC will nominate some 20 Chinese young journalists.
