SHENZHEN – While the cosmopolitan city of Shenzhen in southern China, just north of Hong Kong and home to 10 million inhabitants, waits for its chance to host the 26th Universiade this summer, the city opened its doors to twenty-eight intern judges and coaches from all over China, one judge from New Zealand, for an International Aerobic Gymnastics Judges Course. The event was organized by the Chinese Gymnastics Association on June 5 – 11, 2011.
Headed up by Ms Wang Youping (CHN) and directed by Mireille Ganzin (FRA), President of the Aerobic Gymnastics Technical Committee, with the assistance of Vice-President M Wang Hong (CHN) for translation, the course was a full success.
After a week of training, the new judges will have a chance to put their knowledge to the test at the National Aerobic Gymnastics Championships, test events in preparation for Aerobic competitions at the Universiade. This is Aerobic’s premiere appearance on the Universiade program, and gymnasts from four continents have signed up for August 12 – 23.
