2013 SU Update: 2013 Liters of Donor Blood by 2013

KAZAN – On World Blood Donor Day, June 14th, Kazan 2013 volunteers andUniversiadeVillage residents became blood donors. The blood donation event took place in the Republican Hemotransfusion Station and saw the participation of two mayors: Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and Universiade Village Mayor Farid Abdulganiev.

Each blood donor was offered to fill up a form, pass a medical examination and was treated to a cup of tea to maintain fluid balance in the body.

«According to the data, there are 17 blood donors per 1,000 citizens of Tatarstan», Evgeny Sidoruk, head doctor of the Republican Hemotransfusion Station, said. «We have loyal blood donors thanks to whom the demand for donated blood in the republic is fully satisfied.»

Kazan 2013 volunteers andUniversiadeVillageresidents made their own contribution to donorship development. As active participants of social projects and programs, volunteers of the Kazan Universiade plan to join the 2013 liters of Donated Blood by 2013, a project initiated by the Tatarstan Youth Movement Us… Apart from living a healthy way of life and doing sports, Kazan 2013 volunteers will be donating blood to save lives.
