Signing of the agreement
KAZAN – The cooperation agreement between the Russian Student Sports Union (RSSU) and Eurasian Association of Universities (EAU) was signed during the International Conference ‘Sport. Education. Culture’ on June 18th.
The agreement, endorsed by signatures of Russian Student Sports Union President Oleg Matytsin and Vladimir Filippov, Vice-President of the Eurasian Association of Universities and Rector of Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, is designed to establish a cooperation between two organizations for management of the FISU International Education Centre in Kazan. Apart from that, the agreement stipulates holding regular workshops, conferences that will gather global sports experts, as well as other special events aimed at promoting university sport in other countries of the world.
«The association that unites leading Russian universities, will manage to set up an efficient cooperation with the Russian Student Sports Union and the FISU», Vice-President of the Eurasian Association of Universities Vladimir Filippov said. «Thanks to this cooperation, the association will gain a new impetus in development of university sports. The academic experience of leading universities is to become a significant support for both the Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture and FISU Education Centre. We will be able to make a contribution to the network interaction between the universities and sports organizations all over the world, due to new education principles as well, such as Master’s degree program, double diploma. There are prospects for implementing MBA programs at the FISU International Education Centre. Besides, most members of our association, like universities of the CIS and the Baltics, are capable of allocating scholarships for international students coming to study in Kazan.»
Vladimir Filippov also stated that the partnership with student sport associations was also significant not just for building the system of academic education in the field of sport, but for promoting sports at higher education establishments as well. «As part of the agreement, I offer to hold forums bringing together rectors of leading higher education establishments of the world, that are committed to developing sports, and so to encouraging students to live a healthier life. FISU’s international experience is vital for us, as well as the experience amassed by our colleagues in promoting a club format of university sports», the Rector summed up.
Following the RSSU-EAU agreement signing, the International Association of Physical Education andSportsUniversitiesexpressed its eagerness to sign a partnership agreement with the Russian Student Sports Union as well. The Chairman of the Association stressed that 40 sports universities from all over the world were ready to start joint projects and pass on their experience in promoting university sport to the FISU International Education Centre and Universiade Organizing Committees.
