KAZAN – On June 20th, Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Vladimir Leonov signed a cooperation agreement with Nella Pruss, Rector of the TISBI University of Management, thus making it the ninth education establishment that joined the preparations of the 27th Summer Universiade.
The official agreement signing ceremony took place in the conference hall of the TISBI University of Management. The event also saw the attendance of Deputy Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Igor Sivov, Universiade Village Mayor Farid Abdulganiev, Advisor to the Director General and Chief of Staff of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Larisa Sulima and Director of the Volunteer Department Liliya Barieva. Before the ceremony started, Rector of the first-ever non-governmental university in Tatarstan gave an overview of achievements gained by TISBI’s students in science, culture and sports. The Kazan 2013 officials were especially intrigued by the Legion search team that conducts excavations and buries remains of soldiers that fell during the Great Patriotic War. «It’s our history. Awareness only is not enough, we need to respect those who saved our lives at the cost of their own. The work you do is noble, I wish you all success», Vladimir Leonov said.
Prior to the official agreement signing ceremony, the TISBI University of Management offered a concert program and presentation of its most outstanding projects. One of the brightest ones is the Heritage Volunteer Organization that was established within the Tatarstan-Netherlands project aimed to preserve cultural, historical and natural heritage. With the motto going «Heritage is not what we inherit from our ancestors but what we pass onto our descendants», young enthusiasts are trying to draw society’s attention to the problem of preserving rich cultural and historical heritage of the homeland. For instance, TISBI students have annual trips to the island town of Sviyazhsk where they organize various environmental campaigns and charity events. Thanks to the numerous socially significant projects, implemented by the education establishment in Tatarstan, the Mercy in Education Charity Fund, initiated by the TISBI University of Management was awarded the Best Charity Organization Award in 2010.
It stands to note that the TISBI University of Management’s administration is truly paying much attention to implementation of social projects. TISBI became one of the few education establishments that introduced an education program for hearing impaired students. There are even artistic studios created for hard-of-hearing boys and girls. The Kazan 2013 officials were treated to a song performed by hearing impaired students in sign language.
«For quite a long time we’ve been having reliable partnership relations with the TISBI University of Management», Vladimir Leonov remarked. «It’s hard to imagine any event held under the aegis of the Cultural Universiade without your talented students – Mikhail Uretsky and U-13 dance group. Your students are also the most enthusiastic Kazan 2013 volunteers. Some of my colleagues and specialists of the Universiade Directorate and other partner organizations were educated at your university. Your University has become a quality label. I hope that the cooperation agreement signed today will become an extra support to our joint projects in the preparations for the 27th World University Summer Games inKazan.»
For her part, Nella Pruss pointed out that the agreement would become a natural continuation of long partnership relations. «We’ve been working with you for a long time, we support all the Unversiade-related projects. We do everything within our power for the good ofKazan, Tatarstan andRussia», she said.
Under the signed agreement, the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate and TISBI University of Management plan to implement joint volunteer programs. The University boasts a vast experience of working with international delegations, and actively coordinates linguist training at the Almetyevsk Branch of the TISBI University of Management designed to train volunteer interpreters proficient in English, French, German, Turkish and Arabic.
