SWITZERLAND – The Swiss University Sport Federation has selected 93 athletes to participate in the 26th Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, China. Among these are several Swiss top athletes. The whole team including athletes, medical team and staff consists of 136 people. Swiss athletes will also compete in the new Universiade sport Chess.
Never before was a Swiss Universiade delegation bigger. ‘Our goal is to win three medals and 15 Diplomas’, says Thomas Mörgeli, head of the Swiss delegation. Mörgeli is looking forward to the Games which are expected to break many records, not only in terms of participants. He’s also curious about the many newly built venues and the Chinese culture.
The delegation has committed itself to the values of «cool and clean», a program under the auspices of Switzerland’s National Olympic Committee which promotes fair and doping free sport.
