LISBOA – The official presentation of the Portuguese Delegation to the Universiade Shenzhen 2011 was held on August 3rd at the Press Conference in the University of Lisbon.
The ceremony was attended by the Secretary of State for Sport and Youth, Alexandre Mestre, the Secretary of State for Higher Education, João Queiró and several athletes including Nélson Évora, Gold Medal in Triple Jump at Belgrade Universiade ’09 and 2008 Olympic Champion, Tomás Silva, Golf Athlete and Rui Bragança, Taekwondo athlete on the rise.
The Portuguese delegation will be headed, one more time, by Duarte Lopes, while the athlete Sónia Tavares, 100 meters Bronze medal last Universiade, was announced as the flag bearer.
The Portuguese delegation for the 26th Summer Universiade includes 52 peoople, between athletes, referees, coaches and managers.Portugalwill compete in nine sports in this Universiade: Athletics, Fencing, Gymnastics, Golf, Judo, Swimming, Taekwondo, Table Tennis and Chess.
