YOSKHAR-OLA – TheFISU Flag replica handover and Kazan 2013 Ambassador initiation ceremonies were held during the ‘Universiade in Your City!’ concert which took place in Lenin Square of Yoshkar-Ola
The Flowers of the Universiade flowerbed sporting the image of the tulip, the symbol of the Games 2013, was inaugurated inLenin Square. The ceremony saw the attendance of Vladimir Shishkin, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Mari El; Galina Shvetsova, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Mari El; Valentin Tsivilsky, Managing Director of the Mari El Branch of Sberbank of Russia.
«It’s no coincidence that each city of the Volga Federal District gets its own personalized FISU Flag replica», Andrey Kondratyev, Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan, said during the ceremony. «This flag serves as a document that testifies to our partnership and your direct involvement in the preparations and staging of the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan.»
The FISU Flag replica was handed over to Irina Zimina, a newly appointed Ambassador for the 2013 Summer Universiade. Irina, who is a member of the national youth basketball team, thanked the Kazan 2013 delegates for an honor of being entrusted with such a great mission.
Best creative bands and folk groups of the Republic of Mari El and winners of UNI-elite showcased their talented performance at the concert that was headlined by the Murakami rock band.
