TRENTO – The Rectors of theUniversity ofTrento,Davide Bassi, and of the Leopold Franzens University of Innsbruck, Tilman Märk, have undersigned a cooperation and mutual support agreement related to important sports events and, in particular, to the 2017 Winter Universiade Trentino is bidding for. This agreement strengthens the already existing cooperation between the two universities.
Innsbruckcan boast a significant experience in the organization of important sports events, among which in particular the 2005 Winter Universiade. It will host the first edition of the Winter Youth Olympic Games to be held in 2012 and it is also involved in supporting the Trentino bid both in the preliminary phase and in case of assignation.
During the meeting between the Trentino 2017 delegation and the authorities of the city of Innsbruck, which took place on September 19th, the Regional Councillor of Tyrol Bernhard Tilg, the Provincial Councillor for Education and Sport of the Autonomous Province of Trento Marta Dalmaso and the Vice-Mayor of Innsbruck Christoph Kaufmann have expressed their mutual gratefulness for the support and cooperation between the Region Tyrol and Trentino and have confirmed the intention to cooperate more and more in the field of sports events and of the aggregation among young people. Both rectors have declared their willingness to further consolidate the cooperation relations through the experience of the Universiade.
The Trentino 2017 delegation, represented byFilippo Bazzanella, presented the project Universiade Trentino 2017, whereas Martin Schnitzer, Vice-Director of the Universiade Innsbruck/Seefeld 2005, presented a relation on the 2005 Winter Universiade and Werner Margreiter a relation on the pre-event organizational activities for the 2012 Youth Olympic Games.
The Trentino delegation had the opportunity to visit the new residential structures of the Athletes’ Village and the sports facilities of the Innsbruck “Olympia World”.
