BRUSSELS – Within the FISU World University Championships program, Cross-Country is one of the first organized events. Since 1978, 17 editions took place and in 2012, the Technical University of Lodz (POL) will be the host of the 18th World University Cross-Country Championship on April 14th, 2012. It will be the second time Poland will host this championship after the 7th edition held in Poznan in 1990.
With a firm involvement of the university and a will to involve the students within each functional area, the Technical University of Lodz made the choice to be a university event not only in terms of participants but also in terms of organization, offering opportunities for students to present abilities and gain experience on a world class sport event.
The city of Lodz is famous for its textile industry, and its university is honored to have among its students Adam Kszczot, winner of the 800m of the 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championship and Sylwester Bednarek, bronze medallist of the World Championships in high jump in 2009.
All the best student-athletes will be invited to take part in this 18th World University Cross-Country Championship, second event of the 2012 WUC campaign.
