2013 SU Update: 2013 Summer Universiade presented at Health Industry Exhibition

KAZAN – Minister of Health Care of the Republic of Tatarstan Airat Farrakhov visited the display stand of the 27th World University Summer Games in the 16th Health Industry International Exhibition that opened on October 12th in the Kazanaskaya Yarmarka Exhibition Centre.

A warm welcome was extended to the special guest at the display stand of the 2013 Summer Universiade by Kazan 2013 volunteers and the Kazan 2013 escort team, the winners of the Faces of the Universiade project.

Later on, the Russian-English medical phrasebook was introduced to the Minister of Health Care. As Deputy Director of the Health Department of Kazan Marat Gataullin stated, «this phrasebook will facilitate the communication between doctors and patients at the 2013 Summer Universiade.» For his part, the Minister of Health Care of theRepublicofTatarstanoffered to include a Tatar translation of medical terms in the book. The book’s presentation was followed by a series of exercises that the Kazan 2013 volunteers showed the exhibition attendees.

During the exhibition’s opening ceremony Airat Farrakhov announced that starting this year the exhibition would be called ‘Health Industry Exhibition’. «The title reflects a shift in priorities in our work:we are able and must preserve the health of those who understand the importance and see the possibilities for maintaining a healthy way of life», the Minister said.

The ceremony was also attended by Professor Boris Polyaev, President of the Russian Association for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation of Patients and Disabled, Member of the Medical and Scientific Commissions of the European Olympic Committees. He congratulated the exhibition attendees on the successful start of the exhibition and stressed its topicality in the context of the forthcoming 2013 Summer Universiade. «We are ahead of the Planet! I wish you good luck and strong health!», Boris Polyaev said.

The main goal of the Health Industry Exhibition organized by the Ministry of Health Care of theRepublicofTatarstanand the Kazan Mayor’s Office, is popularization of a healthy way of life, promotion of high quality medical products and equipment on the Tatarstan’s market.

The exhibition showcases display booths dedicated to preventive healthcare, rehabilitation, medical equipment and diagnostics, primary health care, laboratory medicine, pharmaceutical industry, medical furniture, biotechnologies. The main attention was drawn to the stands of the 2013 Summer Universiade, Sports Medicine and Healthy Lifestyle, as well as to the scientific conference Pressing Problems of Sports Medicine.

The 2nd International Healthy Lifestyle Building Forum is reported to be the keynote event of the Health Industry Exhibition. The exhibition will also feature a number of workshops on problems faced by healthcare providers and brings together over 100 enterprises of Kazan, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Ufa, Krasnodar and other cities of Russia.
