TAIPEI CITY – The inspection visit was continued and moved to the neighboring city and county on the third day. TheFISU evaluation committee was accompanied during the inspection by the deputy mayor, Mr. Tin-Yu TING; president of CTUSF, Mr. Kunning CHEN; FISU assessor, Mr. Tai-Cheng CHEN and some other directors from different positions and authorities. Competition venues for Artistic Gymnastics, Football, Volleyball, Water Polo, and Baseball were checked. Alternatives for Table Tennis and Swimming were also included into today’s program. 5 stops for 3 gymnasiums, 3 stadiums, 2 construction sites and 1 Athletes’ Village plus a luncheon by the premier Den-Yih WU, debriefing meeting chaired by the mayor Lung-bin HAU and one banquet hosted by the minister of sport Hsia-Ling TAI fulfilled the schedule from 9 am to 9 pm.
During the debriefing meeting, each member of the FISU evaluation committee expressed their general impression. The advantages and those to be improved were also given to the bidding city of Taipei. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to show our ability to FISU. We have strong support from the central government and the neighboring cities. We have experiences in hosting big-scale international events.Taipei has confidence to make the 2017 Summer Universiade the best Universiade ever in FISU history”, said Mayor Lung-bin HAU. “The Universiade is not only a mission of Taipei, it’s a mission of the whole nation”, added Deputy Mayor Tin-Yu TING.
Tomorrow will be the last day for the evaluation committee in Taipei. They will meet President MA Ying-Jeou, followed by an internal meeting in the morning and a press conference in the afternoon will conclude this inspection visit inTaipei.
