KAZAN – Residents of the Universiade Village turned into vampires, evil witches and walking dead. Starting Saturday, the peaceful student campus transformed into a ‘resident evil’. All imaginable ‘supernatural beings’ of Building 12, 14 and 16 gathered for the witches’ sabbath on October 31 to celebrate Halloween.
With the program carefully planned, students didn’t lack for entertainment. Halloween costume contestants demonstrated their outfits, showed off their intelligence composing Halloween-inspired poems, boasted their story-telling skills, reciting scary stories in the dark.
«Despite the format of the event, it proceeded in a very friendly atmosphere. Students had fun the way they wanted», said Lenar Zainullin, a host of the evening. «Halloween means a true freedom for creativity, and boys and girls expressed themselves to the full. They not simply turned into evil spirits but demonstrated their acting skills as well. In a word, they held a true Bacchanalia!»
Maria Andreeva, a resident of Building 16 who transformed herself into a vamp biker, said she was delighted with the organized event. «Halloween is a holiday where friends meet. I’m glad that today I didn’t sit alone in my room, as usual, but had a good evening with my roommates and got to know better the residents of our building from other floors.»
The evening ended with a dance party. It should be noted that Halloween celebrations were held in the Universiade Village within four days and in different buildings. Today is the final day ‘supernatural things’ will guest at the student campus to return here next year. From now on it’s one of the most favorite holidays of UniversiadeVillage residents.
