HELSINKI – The traditional SELL Student Games will be the largest and most international student sporting event in Finland in 2012 and open to all university and polytechnic students in the world. The games are hosted in alternate years by the SELL countries (Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania).

Next year, the games will be hosted by Aalto University Sports Club and Aalto University Student Union and held in Espoo, Otaniemi, on 17–20 May 2012. In addition to the competitions, plenty of side events and the traditional SELL party will be organized. The organizers are expecting around 2000 students to attend the games and around 250 volunteers will help out with the arrangements.

SELL Games is a multisport event. Team sports include basketball, volleyball, football (7 vs 7), floorball and ultimate frisbee. Individual sports include disc golf, judo, fencing, tennis, table tennis, chess, badminton, orienteering, swimming and athletics.

Football, floorball and basketball have traditionally been the most popular sports. In addition, in previous years, the games have seen some top performances by athletes in sports such as judo, swimming and athletics.

However, all students regardless of their skills and fitness level may participate in the events. The most important things are great atmosphere and fair sportsmanship!
