BRUSSELS – As presented earlier this week, the program of the 2014 World University Championships will be completed during the next FISU Executive Committee meeting in May in Kazan (RUS). During this meeting the bids of the cities interested in hosting one of the 37 World University Championships will be evaluated and attribution will be made. 11 WUCs have already been attributed but 26 sports are still officially part of the bidding program, namely: badminton, baseball, bridge, canoe sprint, cross country, chess, cycling, equestrian, floorball, field hockey, karate, long track speed skating, match racing (sailing), netball, nordic combined, rowing, savate, sport shooting, softball, ski jumping, squash, triathlon, waterski, whitewater canoeing, weightlifting and woodball.
In 2014, two new sports will be added to the program of the World University Championships, i.e. ski jumping and nordic combined.
Any National University Sports Federation willing to bid for one of the above mentioned events will have to provide to FISU a bidding dossier one month prior to the FISU Executive Committee meeting. The deadline is set at the first week of April.
