KAZAN – Another English language course launched for staff members and maintenance personnel of the Universiade Village as part of the ‘English 4U’ project has come to an end.
English basics have already been taught at theUniversiadeVillagefor two years now. During this term students were divided into six groups based on their language proficiency. Presently, English classes are held twice a week.
«The majority of the University Village’s staff members are middle-aged people, that’s why volunteers have chosen a very efficient teaching method, an interactive one. During the classes we improve our spoken language skills, study texts on different topics, watch movies in English and simply enjoy the time we spend together», said Leysan Iskhakova, head of the Universiade Village’s general department.
These days students are taking a language test aimed to check their language skills. The volunteer teachers admit that most students show good progress in their studies.
It’s worth mentioning that the ‘English 4U’ project will run till 2013. It is expected that by that time staff members of the student campus will be speaking English fluently and will be able to communicate easily with athletes and visitors of the 2013 Summer Universiade.
