FISU SG/CEO & Treasurer with the Mayor of Taipei City
TAIPEI CITY – On January 5th and 6th, 2012,FISU Treasurer Bayasgalan and FISU SG/CEO Saintrond visited Taipei City to meet with the local authorities and representatives of the CTUSF. Upon arrival the representatives of FISU were welcomed by the Mayor ofTaipei City Hau Lung-bin and Vice Mayor Yu-Ting Tin.
On November 29th, 2011, at the FISU Executive Committee meeting in Brussels, the FISU Board attributed the 2017 Universiade to Taipei City. In their presentation, the bid committee members had offered additional financial conditions for FISU and the participating countries. Thus, at the Universiade in 2017 each participant will pay only 10 € per day for meals and lodging and a 60% reduction will be given to all participants on all flight tickets of CHINA AIR and EVA AIR. Member Federations from developing countries will benefit from a discount of 80% on all tickets of these airlines.
These special conditions offered by the OC of Taipei 2017 were the subject of an amendment to the attribution contract. This amendment was drafted in consultation with the FISU representatives in an MOU that was signed this afternoon at Taipei City Hall by the Treasurer of FISU Bayasgalan Danzandorj, the FISU SG/CEO Eric Saintrond, the Vice-Mayor of Taipei Dr. Tin-Ting Yu and the SG of the city ofTaipei Mr. Yeong-Ren Chen. The final contract signing will take place at an official ceremony in the presence of theFISU President Claude-Louis Gallien during the 2012 FISU Forum which will be held from March 26th to 31st in Taipei City.
The FISU delegates also met with the President of the CTUSF Mr. Kunning Chen who confirmed the rules of protocol to be used for the FISU Universiade in Taipei.
