2013 SU Update: MPC of Kazan 2013 to be housed in new 45,000-seat Stadium

KAZAN – It is most likely that the main press centre of the 27th Summer Universiade inKazan will be located in the new football stadium with a seating capacity of 45,000 that is now being built. This was announced yesterday by 1st Deputy Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Azat Kadyrov during the interview to the journalists at theFISU Seminar.

The FISU Seminar dedicated to the preparation and staging of the 27th World University Summer Games in Kazan proceeded with its planned agenda on January 18. One of Day 2’s speakers was Director for the Summer Universiade Marc Vandenplas, who spoke about the cooperation withFISU, media coordination and the main TV broadcaster during the Games. The report was preceded by a video presentation on the work of media during the Summer Games in Shenzhen,China. This place has enough area to accommodate the main press centre and international broadcast centre», Azat Kadyrov pointed out.

According to the 1st Deputy Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate, the majority of facilities for the 2013 FINA Aquatics Championships will be erected around the stadium and theAquaticsPalacethat is located in close proximity. «We have kept this in mind considering the place for the press centre. And the necessary distribution lines will be provided for the stadium», he mentioned.

The final decision about the place will be taken in January-February, Azat Kadyrov said.

Another presentation during the seminar was devoted to risk management during the days of the Games. «We are performing risk management, providing insurance coverage for all categories of people, taking part in the Games, e.g. members of official delegations, athletes,FISU Family members, quests and others», Azat Kadyrov said.
