LJUBLJANA – Yesterday, January 26th, 2012,FISU representatives Eric Saintrond, SG/CEO; Roger Roth, CTI Chair and Milan Augustin, Director WU had a meeting at the University in Ljubljana with the 2013 WU Organizing Committee represented by Tone Vogrinec, President; Srecko Vilar, CEO WU 2013; Srecko Medven, Sports Director WU 2013; SUSA President Otmar Kugovnik together with the Mayor of the Municipality of Maribor Franc Kangler; representative of the Municipality of Zrece Drago Šeserko and representative of the Municipality Ruse Alexander Bruncko.
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the detailed plan regarding the readiness of the infrastructure which will be used for the Universiade. The main topics on the agenda focused on the construction of sports facilities, which must be finished this year, and which mainly concern the ice sports as well as the new biathlon venue.
The back-up plan for each facility in case of any construction delay or insufficient weather conditions prior to the games was discussed as well.
After a couple of meetings already organized on governmental and municipality level, the full support for the 2013 WU project in Maribor was reconfirmed by the government and its PM Janez Jansa.
The competition program has been already approved by the Executive Committee of FISU last year 2011 (//krikyalive.com/medias/fichiers/sports_program.pdf ).
The fruitful discussion with all the institutions involved was followed by a press conference. The many questions of the national media confirmed the importance of this project for the whole country to show the world its capability and tradition in hosting international sport events.
