TRENTINO – Yesterday, April 17th, was the first day of the inspection visit in Trentino by the FISU delegation, chaired by Kairis Ulp, chair of the Winter Universiade Supervision Committee, to have a glance of the venues and facilities arranged to host the Winter Universiade in 2013. The delegation started the inspection visit yesterday morning at the seat of the University of Trento, meeting the members of the Academic Senate: the rector, the deans of the seven faculties, the chief executive and the students’ representatives.
The delegation was welcomed by the rector Davide Bassi, who thanked FISU for the trust and availability shown towards Trentino. «We welcome this opportunity with a strong motivation and a great energy, using our experience and enthusiasm together with the tools of the new information and communication technologies» stated the rector stressing the importance of the event for the University and for the whole territory.
«In promoting sport, we have common goals and share the same university spirit – added Kairis Ulp for theFISU–. The Winter Universiade is not only the second biggest sport event after the Olympics, but it is also a cultural event that helps to get in touch with a real international community. A great opportunity for students of Trentino to be involved as protagonists and to give their help as volunteers».
In the meeting with the Technical Committee and members of the local bodies, theFISUdelegates had the opportunity to listen to a short presentation of Trentino, Trento and the University of Trento and to have some information concerning the starting of the project for the organization of the 2013 Winter Universiade. In the afternoon the delegation moved to the beautiful Duomo square in the town’s historical center and then visited some of the hotels that will host the FISU Family. They were then taken to the San Bartolameo Service Center, where the MPC and IBC centers will be located.
The technical visit is going on today with the tour of the competition venues in Baselga di Piné and in the Fiemme and Fassa Valleys.
