2015 WU Update: Inspection Visit in Granada – Day 2

GRANADA Today, April 24th, the FISU delegates continued their inspection visit in Granada, host city of the 2015 Winter Universiade.

In the morning the delegates visited the FERMASA fairground, a site that is used for fairs etc. and could house the MMC, MPC and transportation logistics. From there the delegations went to the Congress Center of Granada in the centre of the city. The Congress Center is planned to be the Organizing Committee Headquarters during the Games with the ample meeting rooms and other facilities that are needed during our event.

After the visit of these venues, the FISU delegates went to the Department of Physical Education of the University of Granada which houses the current seat of the Organizing Committee of the 2015 Winter Universiade.

A work session was planned there. During the meeting the following topics were discussed:

– Lay-out of the number of hotel rooms and beds in Granada, Puerto de la Ragua and Sierra Nevada;

– The plan of the snow sport facilities inSierra Nevada;

– The plan of the snow sport facilities in Puerto de la Ragua;

– The plan of the ice sport facilities inGranada;

– A draft plan of the test events;

– The operational and non-operational budget;

– The overall plan of every functional area within the organization of the Games;

– Presentation of the draft of the Master Plan.

After lunch the FISU delegates traveled to Puerto de la Ragua, venue site for biathlon and cross country skiing, to have a site visit.
