LJUBLJANA – The representatives of the European University Sports Association – EUSA and the Organising Committee of the 1st European Universities Games met for the inspection and evaluation visit between May 14 and 17 in Córdoba, Spain.
EUSA was represented by Mr Fernando Parente and Mr Haris Pavletic, Executive Committee Members, Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, Secretary-General, Mr Patrik Perosa, Sports Manager and Mr Andrej Pisl, Communications Manager. They were welcomed on behalf of the University of Córdoba by Mr Manuel Torres Aguilar, Students and Culture Vice-Rector and on behalf of the Organising Committee by Mr Vicente Orga, Games CEO and Rifaat Chabouk, Operations Manager.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the preparation for the upcoming event, which is to be the largest university multi-sports event in Europe, with competitions taking place in Córdoba between July 12 and 23, 2012.
The overall event was discussed and evaluated, giving special emphasis on the topics of the structure of the organizing committee, social and cultural activities, accommodation, dining, accreditations, communications, security and medical services, volunteers, sports venues and program, transportation, protocol, opening, closing and awards ceremonies, receptions and other relevant topics, arisen in the discussion.
Apart from the discussion, the participants also visited some sporting and accommodation venues and also other venues to be used during the event.
Outcomes of the meeting will be presented at the EUSA Executive Committee meeting, to take place on June 15 in Brussels. The summary and most relevant and practical information will be also distributed to the members of EUSA and participating universities at the 1st European Universities Games.
