New World University Champions attributed for 2012 & 2014

BRUSSELS – At the recent FISU Executive Committee meeting in Kazan, the FISU Board attributed more World University Championships for 2012 and 2014.

As the Organizing Committee in Colorado Springs withdrew its candidature to host the 5^th World University Boxing Championship, the event was attributed to a new host. Therefore the 2012 WUC Boxing will be hosted in Baku, Azerbaijan (10-18/11/2012), bringing a FISU event for the first time to this country. This attribution brings the total of WUCs this year to 28.

For 2014, seven more WUCs were attributed bringing the current number to 17 so far.

 – 6^th WUC Cycling to Jelenia Gora (POL), 03-06/07/2014

– 9^th WUC Karate to Bar (MNE), 23-29/06/2014

– 13^th WUC Rowing to Gravelines (FRA), first half of September 2014

– 2^nd Long Track Speed Skating to Almaty (KAZ), 18-23/12/2014

– 13^th WUC Chess to Katowice (POL), 31/08-06/09/2014

– 6^th WUC Floorball to Singapore (SIN), 11-15/06/2014

– 19^th WUC Cross Country to Entebbe (UGA), date to be decided
