ESKISEHIR – This year, the city of Eskişehir, with the contributions of Anadolu University and Osmangazi University, hosted the 9th TURKEY KOCFEST UNIVERSITY SPORTS GAMES between 11 and 17 May 2012, organised by the Turkish University Sports Federation (TUSF).
From 80 different universities, a total of 1,897 athletes and 682 officials took part in the Games in 9 different sports athletics, basketball, canoeing, futsal, gymnastics, handball, swimming, volleyball and water-polo.
The Games were realized in a festival-like atmosphere, accompanied with cultural and art activities. In addition to DJ performances, the Gripin, which is one of the most famous rock groups in Turkey, and famous star Asli gave a concert during the event, creating memorable moments for the participants.
The opening ceremony of the Games was magnificent. The campus of Anadolu University was like an Athletes’ Village in Universiade style.
The final matches were very exciting and after the finals the awarding ceremony has been held, closing the Games until the next edition scheduled in May 2013.
