CAPETOWN – As Melinda Goosen, University Sports South Africa (USSA) Chairperson and head of the local organising committee, said in her closing speech yesterday; “History was made this week!” This past week showcased the first FISU World University Netball Championships, hosted by South Africa at the Good Hope Centre in Cape Town.

After 6 days of matches, and some tough competition amongst 8 international University netball teams, namely; Great Britain, South Africa, Jamaica, Namibia, Uganda, Zimbabwe and the USA, Great Britain reigned supreme, clinching the title after a nail-biting final against South Africa.
