KAZAN – The qualifying heats of Day 1 at the 12th World University Rowing Championship in Kazan, Russia, brought no special surprises, as was expected.
Teams of Poland, the Netherlands, Germany, France and host Russia had a good day on the water. But they can improve their results during the repechages on Day 2 of the championship.
One of such repechages already took place today. In addition to Pavel GARANIN (RUS), Oscar RUSSBERG (SWE), Petr CABRA (CZE), Michael SCHMID (SUI), Bartlomiej LESNIAK (POL) and Andrea MICHELETTI (ITA) who already qualified for the men’s Lightweight Single Sculls final, three more rowers – Niall KENNY (IRL), Ruslan MOMOT (UKR), Tamor BAKHOFF (EST) – managed to earn the rest of the final berths.
