Over 50,000 Kazan 2013 Volunteers await Interview Results

KAZAN The number of volunteers seeking to be part of the Kazan 2013 volunteer team exceeds twice the organisers’ expectations.

50,319 candidates from dozens of Russian cities and foreign countries are looking forward to the results of application screening and interviews that will run until March 2013. Starting February, the Kazan 2013 organisers will start sending emails to the first successful candidates, giving information about their volunteer positions, the venue they will be assigned to and a list of their responsibilities. A total of 20,000 volunteers will be needed for the 27th Summer Universiade in July 2013. According to the preliminary estimates, volunteer position seekers outnumber available positions twice or three times, and even four times in some cases. 

By the end of January, 30 regions of Russia will have completed the selection of volunteers for the Games, whereas citizens of Kazan will be able to attend interviews at the Recruitment Centre located in the Ekiyat Puppet Theatre, as well as at Kazan State Power Engineering University, Kazan National Research Technological University and Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University. The screening of applications and interviews will commence at those universities next week. 

Several months of extensive volunteer training are ahead as the orientation events for the first group of successful applicants kick off this February and will run until June 2013. Training for Kazan 2013 volunteers is split into four sessions: orientation event, general training, and role-specific and venue-specific modules. Today all candidates who registered at have access to online tools and e-learning materials that enable them to study anytime, anywhere.
